'Seizures': the app to know what epilepsy is and how to help children or adults who suffer from it

'Seizures' is a free application that will serve to bring basic information about epilepsy to the general population, and how to help.

Because a child or adult who suffers an epileptic crisis needs help, and we all know some myths that circulate in relation to the way they act, but isn't it better to intervene when you have valid and proven information? The app was presented on World Epilepsy Day, by the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Niño Jesús University Children's Hospital, the Hospital itself, and the Purple Day organization.

Seizures is a free application, available on Android and Apple platforms;a very practical and accessible tool to facilitate basic first aid measures that it is necessary to start up before an epileptic crisis. It is very easy to handle, it includes descriptive videos about the different types of crises and simple and direct indications about what to do.

Protecting the head, accounting for the duration of the crisis and not putting anything in the mouth, are some of the first measures, on which prevails to remain calm from the first moment

The project has been launched by Dr. Mª Luz Ruiz Falcó, who highlights the objective of fighting fear through information. 'We want to help in the process of normalizing the lives of people who have seizures ".

The hospital next to Purple Day, which has ceded the rights of the videos made in the United States included in the application developed by the neuropediatras of the Niño Jesús Hospital; wants the application to become a useful tool for those who live with the pediatric patient (family, friends, teachers, trainers, children's entertainers) and for the whole general population.

For me, this issue is very important if we believe in the need to help others in unforeseen situations of illness, or accidents, of which we are spectators. The minimum responsibility that we must assume is to notify the emergency services, but the truth is that I feel better having a little information, that if it is necessary on some occasion, I will apply.
