'Drag queens' and yellow ties in the Three Horseback Rides: children just want to live the magic of Christmas

During the last years, the Three Kings' Horse Rides have been news for issues that nothing has to do with the magic of Christmas and the illusion with which children live the most anticipated night of the year.

The most popular was the controversy of 2016 around the costumes of the Magi at the Cabalgata de Madrid. In 2017 it also raised a stir, and this year The Horseback Rides of different municipalities are again news because of their claimespecially that of Vallecas, which will include a float with 'drag queens', and that of Manresa, which calls to wear a yellow symbol to show solidarity with sovereign prisoners.

'Drag queens' in Vallecas

While it was said that three drag queens would replace the Magi in the Vallecas Cavalcade, this is not true, although they will be present in the parade. It is a float, of the 16 that will be part of the parade, promoted by Orgullo Vallekano and the Equality Board of the neighborhood, which will parade defending the equality and rights of the LGTBI collective with the motto "all som @ s the queens of our lives".

Nor will they be dressed in 'drag queens', as stated, or as the promotion poster that we see above can imply. Participating in the 'drag queen' La Prohibida, actress and director Roma Calderón and hip hop singer Dnoe Lamiss, along with boys and girls, but no shine and platforms. As the Forbidden clarifies in a tweet, they will all be dressed in stuffed pajamas.

I will participate in the cavalcade of Kings of Puente de Vallekas in the float for diversity and equality: we will all go in stuffed pajamas! RRMM there are only three and I am not one of them, although we are all queens @orgullovallekas

Yellow ties in Manresa

For its part, the political conflict of the moment could not be left out of the Cavalcade this year. Under the motto, 'Let's receive the parade of yellow kings', the ANC sovereign entities of Manresa and Òmnium Cultural, ask people to go to the Three Kings parade in Manresa wearing some yellow symbol to show solidarity with sovereign prisoners. An idea that re-ignited the controversy of indoctrination and involving children in political matters.

Children just want magic

Without entering if it is right or wrong, because surely we would not reach any agreement, and it is not the reason for this post, what I want is look down at them children. I want to put myself in the place of my youngest daughter and that of all those little ones who yearn every January 5 to witness the arrival of Her Majesties Melchor, Gaspar and Baltazar to their neighborhoods, towns and cities.

And you know what? Children do not care at all about the sexual condition of those who participate in the floats, nor the political ideologies of those who organize them. They are oblivious to the controversies in which we adults get entangled and they just want to enjoy the most magical night of the year They looked forward to it.

The Three Kings' Rides became vindictive showcases that children find completely oblivious: they just want to live the magic of Christmas.
