The baby's bath when it's cold

Low temperatures can make the baby's bath time less pleasant, and to avoid this we have to follow some recommendations that will make bathing the baby a pleasant moment for everyone. They are small actions that change the dynamics of the bathroom a bit but that do not essentially disrupt it.

In many houses there is central heating and the bathroom maintains the proper temperature, comparable to that of the rest of the rooms, but even so being naked and wet the baby can cool more easily, so you have to turn on a stove or a heater to warm the environment and that the child does not go cold to be without clothes.

This recommendation becomes essential if the house does not maintain the same temperature or if only some rooms are kept warm (in which the baby and the rest of the family are).

Also inside the bathtub you have to check that the water temperature is adequate, raising a couple of degrees of the thermostat (as we do for our own showers or bathrooms), and in any case always checking the water temperature so that the baby does not burn or go cold.

If in summer we can bathe the child with little water in the bathtub, in times of cold it is better to fill it a little more. In baby bathtubs it is simple, and this does not have to mean a much greater expenditure of water in somewhat older children, since there are certain plastic reducers or "mini-bathtubs" for children who no longer fit in baby bathtubs, but those that have a large family bathtub.

Another tip for the baby's bath when it's cold is also monitor the temperature of our hands, because nobody likes to feel cold hands rubbing or stroking if the temperature is low. Rubbing the hands before taking and washing the baby, or immersing them for a little while before in the hot water will help the child not to notice that awkward temperature difference.

A good idea if we have someone to help us can be take a bath with the baby, with the little one in the lap, in this way the temperature is maintained and it is a nice shared moment. The dad or mom will be out to take the baby and dry it.

All ready to bathe the baby

Next to the temperature of the room and the water, we have to have the bath layer or the towel and the clothes ready to change the baby. In summer nothing happens if we take the baby in our arms and take him naked to another room to dress him, but if it's cold it's not a good idea.

Better to dry and dress the baby in the same toilet, which after the bath will be warmer, and once ready, go out with your clothes on. The same happens in winter with your hair (although you may not have too much yet): it should be dried with a towel and a soft dryer so that the baby does not get cold.

And remember, it is not necessary to bathe the baby every day, so if any occasion we have not been able to make preparations for the bathroom to be heated, it does not matter, tomorrow will be another day.

Nor does anything happen if at this time the games in the bathroom are limited, since, although at the beginning they are very warm, if the time passes too long the water cools. A shorter bath without cold is better than lengthening the bathroom and getting nervous when you are no longer at ease. The games can be done perfectly after the bath, outside the toilet, once dressed.

Of course, whatever the season of the year, we should not leave the baby unattended for a single moment. Child drowning or falling are some of the most frequent and dangerous domestic accidents. Therefore it is essential to have everything prepared in the bathroom before putting the baby in the water (soaps, towel ...).

Also if you plan to play music to set the bathroom or a massage after taking the baby out of the bathtub (better half-wrapped in winter), you must have everything prepared beforehand.

In short, if you notice that your baby does not enjoy the bath so much lately, it is probably because he notices the change in time. So considering these considerations we will make the baby's bath when it is cold pleasant.
