Keys to illuminate the children's room

The children's room should be a pleasant space because they will spend many hours resting, reading, playing, painting ...

The light is a very important part in the decoration of the children's room, so in order to get the best out of it we must take into account some keys to illuminate the children's room.

  • Ideally, the room receives natural light from outside. Whether you have a window as a point of light, or two, the curtains should be light and translucent to take full advantage of the light but softening the direct sun.

  • It is preferable to avoid fluorescent tubes and halogen lights. If the room has a standard size, an overhead light is sufficient, that is from the ceiling, and an indirect light.

  • The lamp that hangs from the ceiling must be at a height high enough so that children cannot reach it if they jump on the bed or climb into a chair. It is preferable to have more than one bulb because it will help soften the shadows and provide the child with a more uniform light.

  • Dispose of floor lamps and table lamps as much as possible for safety reasons. There is a risk that the child may drop them while trying to stand up.

  • Lamps that are placed on the wall are preferable. There are some beautiful ones with children's motifs that help soften the light and are ideal as an indirect light source. Even if a low power bulb is used, it can stay on overnight.

  • If you choose a table lamp try to place it at a height that the child can not reach it and hide the cable well, for example behind the furniture.

  • The bulbs can be energy efficient or colored bulbs that provide a warmer and dimmer light.

  • If you choose to use a pilot light, you must choose the night lamp well, remove it during the day and protect the plug to avoid accidents.
