A woman gives birth to sextuplets in Italy

From Italy we get the news of a woman who gave birth, three days ago, to sextuplets at the "Rummo" hospital in Benevento.

The babies were born in a premature delivery of 27 weeks of gestation and it is the first birth of this type for 13 years.

The couple, Carmela Oliva and Pino Mele, had been looking for a pregnancy for five years until the woman underwent fertility treatment with which she managed to get pregnant, although six children. The birth of Paolo, Maurizio, Francesca Pia, Angelica, Annachiara and Serena (four girls and two boys) was by caesarean section, they weighed between 610 and 800 grams and at the moment they remain in incubators where they have a stable state of health.

According to the hospital's head of Neonatology:

Newborns must remain in our department for three months and to discard any doubt about their survival, it will be necessary to wait at least one month.

As for the mother, she commented the following to the media:

It is an exceptional emotion. I can not describe it. To be honest I haven't seen my babies because I was a little nervous. I preferred not to see them because I was literally terrified.

Hopefully this couple, 32 and 30 years, have the strength and help to face what comes their way. I can't (or want to) imagine what it should be like to have six newborn babies at home.

If we also consider that the father lost his job two months ago The drama is served:

Someone help me. Certainly the grandparents will do it, but I hope that the State can also help me out. How? I do not know.

Hopefully so and that the six babies evolve favorably.
