Hyperactivity and attention deficit, the most common neuropediatric pathology

These days are being celebrated in Zaragoza on Congress of the Spanish Society of Neuropediatrics, where the main neuro-pediatric pathologies that affect the child-youth population have been addressed. Pathologies such as autism, epilepsy, learning difficulties, and above all, ADHD are having an important space in Congress, since they are the most frequent in Spanish children.

Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit (ADHD) is the most frequent neuropediatric pathology and affects between 8 and 10 percent of the Spanish child population. The largest number of consultations received by neuropaediatricians is for children suffering from this disorder.

The problem of mixed disorders is being emphasized, when several pathologies are combined in the same child (such as ADHD and epilepsy) and the difficulties of their treatment.

One of the most interesting initiatives is that of strengthen the number of specialists in hospitals, since as we have seen, In Spain there is a lack of child psychiatrists to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Therefore, it is essential to create a core of neuropediatricians to be able to introduce advances in the treatment of diseases that attack the nervous system of children and adolescents, as well as claim the development of neuropediatric medical research projects In our country.

It has also been emphasized that the most important thing is to make a early diagnostic of the disorder to achieve a rapid linguistic evolution and put us at European level, where it takes a year to make a diagnosis and evaluation and not 7 years as is currently the case in Spain.

Another point that has been presented in this Congress is the high incidence of diseases of the central nervous system in children who were born prematurely and underweight, more likely to suffer from neuronal disorders.
