They investigate new viruses and strains of known viruses that especially attack the smallest

Many are the pathogenic microorganisms that can attack our children, in fact, new strains appear every day, others exist but they are not even known, the result is different conditions suffered by children caused by unknown infectious agents. A group of microbiologists and pediatricians from Gipuzkoa have maintained a research in order to find and identify new viruses and new known virus strains that especially attack the smallest.

Surely more than once when going to the doctor to find out what is the cause of certain symptoms of the child, the doctor has informed us that it was a virus or a raisin, clearly seeing that even the doctor was not certain or not I knew the virus in question. An example is the publication of the Diario Vasco. Before a certain respiratory disorder caused by an infectious agent, the doctor diagnoses "it is a virus", wise diagnosis. Now, the aforementioned group of researchers has begun to identify these new viruses that cyclically attack children, these are emerging viruses (viruses that existed but were not known). Among some of these new viruses we can highlight the bocarirus, detected a couple of years ago in Sweden and causing various respiratory infections such as bronchiolitis or pneumonia, among others, in children under two years.

This virus is not only present in Sweden, in fact, following its discovery it was detected in several countries of the world. This group of researchers was the first to detect it in Spain, in addition to confirming the existence of many others that have been detected in the Maternal and Child Hospital of Donostia. The task performed by these professionals is of the utmost importance, since discovering the cause of the infection can find the most effective means to combat these pathogenic microorganisms.
