Discover that you have cancer because your baby refused to breastfeed from the affected breast

His name is Sarah Boyle, is 26 years old, and says his eight-month-old baby saved his life the day he refused to continue sucking on one of her breasts, which was affected by cancer. Although she insisted, surprised, he became more and more irritated with his right chest, so she thought it was strange, and decided to go to the doctor to tell him.

The tests detected the tumor

In 2013 he had been detected in that chest a benign cyst, so she thought it could be the same cyst, that it was growing in some way. They decided to give him tests, and so they discovered that Sarah had a breast cancer known as "triple negative", which is considered to be more aggressive than other types of breast cancer.

The positive thing about the situation is that the diagnosis was made when the tumor was beginning, at a very early stage, and chemotherapy could begin immediately.

Now they may have to do a mastectomy on both breasts to prevent future possible tumors, in what will be a very hard episode for her. However, it is clear that she has her baby nearby, her husband and her family, and that if Teddy's rejection of that breast has not happened, maybe now everything would be very different.

Not always babies warn

As we read on BBC, given the possibility that many women now think that the rejection of their babies may be due to a similar disease, Dr. Jasmine Just, responsible for information from the research department for cancer in the United Kingdom, said there is no clear evidence to show that breastfeeding difficulties can be caused by breast cancer, or that this disease can cause a change in milk until the point that babies refuse to breastfeed.

That is, as he explains, it may be that some babies refuse, and others do not, even though the disease is present.
