Facebook recula: breastfeeding photos will no longer be considered obscene

For a long time Facebook has been in the spotlight of nursing mothers and in ours, for systematically censoring photos of women breastfeeding. The funny thing is that it removed photos with a content as natural as that of a baby clutching its mother's chest and then allowed such terrible things as the abuse of a baby.

7 years ago the campaign "Eh, Facebook, breastfeeding is not obscene" began, which paid off in the summer of last year when he announced that he would no longer censor more images of women breastfeeding. However, he has continued to do so for a reason: I didn't consider the pictures of women breastfeeding obscene, except in case a nipple appeared. Now, at last, he has recited and has decided that he will no longer censor any image of women breastfeeding.

Apparently, from the company they reported two days ago that they had decided to clarify their censorship policy (they said in summer that they would allow photos of breastfed babies, but as I say, they would censor them if the mother's nipple was seen) with some changes. Hereinafter, Facebook will censor the images of women who show the nipples, but not in the case that they are breastfeeding.

That is, it will now allow photos of breastfed babies and even those photos that show the result of a mastectomy. In addition, he adds that yes it will allow bare breasts if it is paintings, sculptures or other samples of plastic art.

The photos are reviewed by Facebook workers

We have always had doubts about the operation of censorship. I have always believed that the review was automatic, carried out by robots. However, from Facebook they communicate that there is no automatic content removal and that the denounced content is examined by Facebook workers from all over the planet, in a period of about 48 hours.

They add that all reported content is valued in the same way and that the number of complaints about a publication is not decisive when deciding whether or not to delete it. Come on, who consider the content and context of the particular publication more important than the number of complaints.

UPGRADE: At first we talked about this news as that Facebook would allow the photos to breastfeed, as long as the nipple was not observed, because then it would censor them. We have contrasted the information we offered and apparently not. Facebook has decided to allow all photos of women breastfeeding, regardless of whether or not the nipple is seen".
