Some time ago we published a story that said that natural childbirth is already a trend in Spanish hospitals. Therefore, I was very surprised to read in the press this week that in Madrid, only five public hospitals favor natural childbirth. A little contradictory, right?
As I have learned, of the 21 public centers that have the Maternity service, there are only five that respect the natural process without inducing labor in an instrumental way.
If we compare this number with the hospitals of other autonomous communities, such as Catalonia or Andalusia (among others), the Spanish capital lags behind in favor of natural childbirth in those mothers who request it.
It is well known that a natural childbirth is to let nature take its course, watching if at any time it is necessary to intervene. That is why, for several years, the Ministry of Health has promoted the Strategy for normal delivery care.
For its part, the Ministry of Health states that there are 13 centers that do favor natural childbirth. What data do you think we should pay attention to? Anyway, hopefully over time the number of public hospitals that favor natural childbirth increase.
