Mothers are too tired to have sex, according to a study that reveals nothing new

By becoming parents, the relationship is transformed and obviously, sexual relationships are affected by this change. When the children arrive, everyday life becomes exhausting and at the end of the day, sex is not the first thing that crosses our heads when we get to bed.

A team of British scientists conducted a study published in BMJ that reveals nothing new for mothers. He concludes that both men and women lose interest in sex after living with their partners for a while. But especially mothers, who are too tired to have sex.

When surveying 4,839 men and 6,669 women between the ages of 16 and 74 and found that 15 percent of men and 34.2 percent of women He admitted losing sexual desire.

"For women in particular, sexual interest appears strongly linked to their perceptions of the quality of their relationships and their communication with the couple," says Cynthia Graham, lead author of the study.

After the first year of relationship, women show four times less interest in sex than before. Among the main reasons, according to experts, are physical and mental health problems, lack of communication with the couple and lack of emotional connection during sex.

Children, work ... who thinks about sex?

But the most striking thing is that in the particular case of women, the decrease in interest in having sex It was influenced by the presence of children under five in the home.

The study mentions that women "who had been pregnant in the last year had a greater lack of sexual interest, as did those who had one or more children." That is, mothers in general.

"This may be due to fatigue associated with a primary care role, the fact that daily stress seems to affect sexual functioning in women more than men or possibly a change in the focus of attention regarding raising young children"says the study.
